- Weight: 207.9

A local Brazilian Grill had a “kids eat free” promo yesterday so we decided to take the kids. I ate a LOT of bacon (it’s Bacon Fest!) along with other meat which had a lot of salt so water weight was way up again and the protein killed my ketosis. I did reach an important milestone: I ate all of the fat on my meat and it was delicious. I’m finally getting over my aversion to fat, only took a year doing keto =)
How does eating protein knock you out of ketosis? I wanted to do a Keto bulk by eating more protein and fat, but I’m not sure if that’s the best course of action. Also, what are you using to measure your blood ketones? I’ve used the strips which you urinate on in the past, but heard those were not reliable.
Great article to explain it: http://www.ketotic.org/2013/01/protein-gluconeogenesis-and-blood-sugar.html
I’m using a blood glucose/ketone monitor with the ketone test strips ($2 each test!), I’m also using a breath acetone tester (Ketonix) and I’m going to compare the two results when the 100 days are over so I can see if the Ketonix is reliable.
