In January 2015 he created the recipe for Keto Chow and released it without restriction for anyone to use, at the same time he began mixing the recipe up for people that wanted a finished product and has seen steady growth in the business every month since.

Savory Soups sample bundle now available

We’ve had the four savory soup samples for some time that you could order individually but we were waiting to get the bags to make the bundles. Turns out they came 2 weeks ago and were put into the back corner without telling me. Oops!

The bundles for the savory soups are now available! It comes in a cool bag *AND* you save a whopping $1.25 over ordering the samples individually because we can make a bunch at the same time, efficiencies of scale and all that (which is also the reason you cannot customize what’s in the sample bundles). Anyhow, you can order them right now.

Flavor of the week: Get 10% off the Pumpkin Spice Caramel 21 meal packs between August 5 – 11

Until August 11 you can get 10% off the 21 meal “week” size of the Pumpkin Spice Caramel 2.1. The normal price for the 21 meal pack is $66, with the 10% discount it’s $59.40 – that’s $2.83 a meal! Check out the flavor reviews of Pumpkin Spice Caramel.

We sometimes get asked: “what can I do with Keto Chow besides make shakes?” The best place to start is our Keto Chow Recipes page. Here are several recipes that happen to use Pumpkin Spice as an ingredient:

You should check out the reviews of Keto Chow, We also get a lot of reviews on our Facebook page and on our SubReddit. Here’s a product review from our site:

I’m blown away by the quality of the product
As a Type 2 diabetic, I’ve tried more than a few “meal replacement shakes” in my life. Mostly because I hate breakfast foods that aren’t loaded with carbs. I have a pathological aversion to eggs, but that’s usually the only thing on a breakfast menu that’s not going to send my blood sugar into the stratosphere. So I was always on the lookout for something I could consume quickly because “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. I’ve since learned that’s a load of garbage.

2 years ago, after I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and told by my oncologist to “eat whatever I wanted, as long as I could maintain my weight” I tried Solient. That was an unmitigated disaster.

I started a deep dive into Keto after hearing Dr. Annette Bosworth talk about her journey with Keto in regards to her mother’s cancer. That lead me to Dr. Dom D’agostino, Dr. Thomas Seyfried and a host of other people researching the topic.

While listening to a podcast where Chris had been a guest I was floored to hear about the almost fasting like levels of ketones he was able to achieve using Keto Chow. Given that as I am about to restart chemo, this caught my attention. Being able to get those levels, while still getting the nutrients needed, is going to be huge for me. Eating was always hit and miss during my first go around with chemo, but Keto Chow is easy enough to consume that I can, hopefully, keep my ketones up, my glucose low and get my GKI into a therapeutic range right before my doses.

I like the flexibility of being able to choose my fat source and control how much I put in. My favorite, so far, is the Peanut Butter and Chocolate made with butter. It tastes just like the Chocolate Peanut Butter milkshakes I used to get at Baskin Robbins.

-Eric

Here’s another review, it should be noted that I publish all of the reviews that come in – bad or good – as they are, typos intact. The only ones I remove are spam posts from people wanting you to buy pills to “enhance performance” and such.

Keto Chow Review
I recurved a sample pack from Keto Chow. The first thing I need to say is I am not big on meal replacement shakes. I have not found one I enjoyed the taste of. Now I made the Salted Carmel flavor and let me tell you I could drink this all day. It doesn’t taste like a meal replacement shake at all. It is so good I could give up food for weeks and drink these for a week or longer three times a day. I was so very surprised at how good these shakes are. If you have not tried Keto Chow you are missing out on a meal that is very good for you and so wonderfully tasting. My YouTube channel is Christina In Michigan I will be posting a review and my first taste on camera. I urge you no beg you to go check out Keto Chow. If I could I would do a mo th of these shakes to see what results I could get out of replacing my three meals a day. Take it from a shake person who doesn’t like shakes that they are the best I have every had. Do yourself a favor and get a sample pack and enjoy drinking a meal or two a day. If you don’t you are missing out on a wonderful meal 5 plus stars, and I don’t see anyone making a better shake ever. Thank you Keto Chow. If you ever need a taste tester I will be that person for you. The most wonderful Keto product I have had ever. Hurry over to KeyoChow.xyz take a look at all the flavors and pick some out for you today. I promise you will not regret it.

New Packaging for Keto Chow Base Powder

This entry is part 125 of 131 in the series Ketogenic Diet

We just received the new packaging for the Base Powder with the new logo and the 2.5 version number. What’s changed? The package, that’s it.

Let’s talk about what the Base Powder is:

  • The Base Powder is all of the “esoteric” ingredients in Keto Chow, everything except for protein, flavor, and sweetener. Often these ingredients can be difficult or impossible to locate, especially outside the United States.
  • You take 14g of the Base Powder and add your choice of protein to make Keto Chow.

Ok, so why would you use the Base Powder instead of getting the full mix?

  • The #1 ingredient in Keto Chow is the protein powder. It takes up more volume and weighs more than any other ingredient. Eliminate the protein and suddenly you can fit 5x as many “weeks” in the same shipping package. For international shipping, this is a huge deal. You’d find some protein locally and not have to pay shipping for that.
  • If you don’t like one of the components of the sweetener, protein, or flavor in the full mix; the Base Powder allows you to use whichever protein powder with whatever sweetener you like. Want unflavored protein? Less sweetener? No Sweetener? Just Stevia? Something besides whey protein? The Base Powder is a likely solution for you.
  • Going back to the previous point, we get a lot of varied requests for customized Keto Chow – almost all of them can be covered with the Base Powder. It’s super flexible and allows us to keep the product line simple(er).

Now, the Base Powder isn’t for everyone – if you use it you should be prepared to do a fair amount of math to determine how much protein powder you should use since most protein powders vary on their nutrient profiles. If in doubt, use Cron-o-meter. The Base Powder is in the Cron-o-meter database already, then you’d just add your protein powder to a “recipe” (along with how much fat you’re using) and you’re good to go. The regular full mix is easier to use, especially for new users, but if you have the desire to customize a bit, you can check out the Base Powder

A note about the version number in the Base Powder: The Base Powder for 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, and now 2.5 are nearly identical. We’re even using the same UPC barcode! So, if you have some older Base Powder, don’t get worked up that you don’t have the “latest” version. Now the question arises: why did we keep 2.5 Base Powder nearly identical? With 1.9 we used off-the-shelf protein powder that usually comes with additional thickening agents, flavor, and other ingredients. With 2.0+, we’re using our own flavorings, protein, and sweetener so we needed some additional “stuff” (potassium and xanthan gum to be specific). For people using the Base Powder with their own protein powder, the experience is going to be identical to 1.9 so we kept the formulation the same. If we used the real base powder from 2.5, it would mix up too thick with most protein powders.

You can buy 2.5 Base Powder here.

Salt and your health

On Saturday we hosted a Keto Meat-up and during the discussion about salt intake, an interesting bit of history was brought up by one of the attendees. He promised to find the source and today on Reddit posted what he was able to find in an article on Diet Doctor by Dr. Jason Fung:

Data from military archives going back to the war of 1812 show that soldiers and presumable the rest of Western society ate between 16 and 20 grams of salt per day. During the war of 1812, soldiers maintained a daily consumption of 18g/ day despite high cost. American prisoners of war complained bitterly that their 9 g/day of salt was ‘scanty and meager’. It was only after World War II, when refrigeration replaced salting as the primary means of preserving food that Americans lowered their average salt intake to 9g/ day where it has remained since. During that period pre-WWII, there was no concern of excess deaths from heart disease, stroke or kidney disease – the main things used to scare us into lowering our salt intake.

16-20g of salt a day, man – that would get most doctors in a tizzy! On the Keto Chow Facebook advertisement with the keto witch we often get comments about how that much salt is insane. The software we use to respond to emails, facebook, instagram, twitter, and live chat requests allows for the use of templates. Today I updated the template “salt content of Keto Chow” to:

Interestingly enough, the recommendation that people limit their salt intake isn’t based on good science – much like the recommendation to limit saturated fats and to limit dietary cholesterol. New data and studies show that the most likely problem you’ll encounter from salt consumption is too little salt! There’s a lot more data about all of this on these several sites:

Above and beyond all of that, on a keto diet, you need a LOT of sodium. Failure to get sufficient salt will leave you with an electrolyte deficiency commonly referred to as “keto flu” – many people find they feel better supplementing above and beyond the sodium that Keto Chow has.

on a side-note I also have another template named “chow”:

The word “chow” to denote “food” (in this case, quite simply “Keto Food”) dates back to 1855 (https://www.dictionary.com/browse/chow). In 1894 the food company Purina started to use “chow” for its various animal foods (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purina_Mills) and “Dog Chow” was not introduced until 1957 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_Chow). The US Air Force and Marines use the term “Chow Hall” but I wasn’t able to find specific history on when that practice started, I’m assuming it was also before 1957.

Sometimes I also point out there’s a human food called “Chow Mein” – that’s only to the people that say “I would NEVER eat a food called ‘CHOW’!” Yes, I’m being petty and pedantic =)

Flavor of the week: Get 10% off the Natural Strawberry 21 meal packs between July 29-Aug 4

Until August 4 you can get 10% off the 21 meal “week” size of the Natural Strawberry 2.1 – It’s down to $63 from the normal price of $70 – that makes it exactly $3.00 a meal!.  Check out the flavor reviews of Natural Strawberry. Natural Strawberry differs from most of the sweet flavors of Keto Chow in that we use Monk Fruit (a “natural” sweetener) to sweeten it. It’s a way for us to gauge the actual market for Keto Chow using something besides 0.08g of pure sucralose as the sweetener. It doesn’t taste exactly the same as the sucralose-sweetened Keto Chow, but it gives those that can’t have or don’t like the idea of sucralose an opportunity to use a convenient and customizable complete meal replacement.

We sometimes get asked: “what can I do with Keto Chow besides make shakes?” The best place to start is our Keto Chow Recipes page. Here are a few recipes that use (or easily can use) the Natural Strawberry flavor:

You should check out the reviews of Keto Chow, we also get a lot of reviews on our Facebook page and on the Keto Chow subreddit.

The Taste is Amazing
I have tried many “key friendly” snacks and meals and none are as wonderful their advertisers claim. They usually taste like dirt and are super expensive. EXCEPT Keto Chow. I have a shake or half a shake for breakfast everyday and I always feel like I’m cheating because it tastes so good. It’s like drinking melted icecream, which I am all for! And I can actually afford to but it without going broke. And I’ve lost 21 pounds on top of it (yay!!) because it keeps you feeling full so much longer. Keep up the good work Keto Chow!

Here’s another review, it should be noted that I publish all of the reviews that come in – bad or good – as they are, typos intact. The only ones I remove are spam posts from people wanting you to buy pills to “enhance performance” and such.

What would I do without my sticker
I’m a little biased as I received this sticker for free. I am so happy I received this sticker. It has changed my life in many ways. I have yet to peel off the backing as I am so happy with the sticker in its complete form. A sticker full of character and always being there for me will not get its backing ripped out from behind just to become another sticker on a wall. Every night that I go to bed, I tuck my sticker in and say good night. I wake up every morning to find KC still there awaiting our daily journey. KC is my sticker. There are many like it but this sticker KC, is mine. KC loves to watch me get my shake on every day, hitch a ride in my disc golf bag, drive alongside to work, long days of sitting at a desk and the antics involved. Thank you KC

Here’s another one, the previous one was just too fun to skip =)

Loving it
I’m recovering from surgery so meal prepping is just not possible right now. I am so glad I found Keto Chow as it makes staying keto in recovery so simple. I love how easy it to customize to fit your macros, prepare, travel with, and there are a few flavors I absolutely love (Snickerdoodle, Strawberry, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Chicken Soup, Vanilla, and Chocolate are all tasty). Shipping is quick so I don’t have to worry about running out. The electrolyte and fasting drops are amazing too. Definitely going to be a continued customer, I’m awaiting my 3rd order now.

Flavor of the week: Get 10% off the Raspberry Cheesecake Keto Chow 21 meal packs between July 22 – 28

Until July 28 you can get 10% off the 21 meal “week” size of the Raspberry Cheesecake Keto Chow. It’s actually been almost exactly a year since we had Raspberry Cheesecake on sale Check out the flavor reviews of Raspberry Cheesecake. We sometimes get asked: “what can I do with Keto Chow besides make shakes?” The best place to start is our Keto Chow Recipes page, here are some of the recipes that use Raspberry Cheesecake Keto Chow:

You should check out the reviews of Keto Chow, we also get a lot of reviews on our Facebook page and on the Keto Chow subreddit.

You don’t appreciate what you have until you don’t have it anymore
I originally purchased the Starter Bundle because of the ad and the great reviews on facebook. Once I got it, I had one almost every day for lunch and enjoyed how easy the process was, how good they tasted, and how many resources were available (through the website & reddit). However, I wasn’t convinced that it was worth the price. That is, until I ran out. I went back to my old ways of scrambling to pull something together in a hangry state of mind, and I missed KC, like an old friend who moved away. I loitered on the website for a couple of weeks, until Chocolate was on sale – I knew that that was my moment. And if I was already buying one, why not more? (Can’t turn down free shipping! :D) So I bought 3 bulk bags (Chocolate, Chocolate PB, & Salted Caramel), and some more samples (so that I could try every flavor, of course). I refreshed my tracking info every single day, every few hours. When it arrived, I was so ecstatic, but I was also so annoyed because I had some avocados and leftover meat that I had to eat, so I couldn’t even have my KC right away. However, now my fridge is free of leftovers, and my daily lunch is easy, delicious, filling, and designed perfectly for my macros. Suffice it to say, I am happily addicted to KC now!

Here’s another review, it should be noted that I publish all of the reviews that come in – bad or good – as they are, typos intact. The only ones I remove are spam posts from people wanting you to buy pills to “enhance performance” and such. I just finished publishing 375 reviews that came in last week while I was distracted with other things, I published the 68 1-4 star reviews first. Then I had a blast looking at the rest, all 5 star reviews, like this:

Hooks up the Fat
Ok, when days are hectic its not always possible to eat a warm, satisfying meal…. Sometimes I find myself lacking protein and fat and its the end of the day and I dont have energy to cook. Keto Chow comes in to save the day! Add cream, shake, done! This stuff tastes delicious and it fills your belly in about 30 seconds time. Give it a try and I promise you wont regret it!

Joe and Rachel of 2KrazyKetos recently finished up their 7 day Keto Chow challenge, it was really cool to watch their progress and experience.
