About Chris

Chris Bair is a technology and computer geek. He became involved in the nutritionally complete "future foods" movement in January 2014, originally with a conventional recipe and later switching to a high fat, low carb "ketogenic" variant on October 2014. In January 2015 he created the recipe for Keto Chow and released it without restriction for anyone to use, at the same time he began mixing the recipe up for people that wanted a finished product and has seen steady growth in the business every month since.

Ingredients

Soup

  • 1 lb steak
  • 1 bell pepper sliced
  • 1/2 small onion sliced
  • 1-2 clove garlic
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 serving Spicy Taco Soup Keto Chow (or 1 scoop)
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 14 oz warm water
  • salt
  • pepper

Suggested Toppings

  • shredded cheese
  • sour cream
  • avocado
  • cilantro
  • lime
  • tomatoes

Instructions

Conventional Cooking Method

  • Generously coat steak with salt and pepper. Grill steak to desired doneness or a little less.

  • While grilling steak, add Taco Soup Base with 1/4 c butter and warm water to a pot, whisking thoroughly until no longer lumpy. Keep on low heat.

  • Saute onions and peppers in 2 tbsp butter and add garlic.

  • Slice steak into “bite-sized” pieces.

  • Add cooked onions, peppers, garlic, and steak to soup base and let simmer for a few minutes.

  • Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve and top with any toppings you like.

InstantPot Method

  • Generously coat steak with salt and pepper. Using 2 tbsp butter, sear steak using SAUTE function. Remove steak and cut into “bite-sized” pieces.

  • Saute onions and peppers with the garlic for 2 min, adding more butter if necessary. Remove onions and peppers.
  • Add 1/4 c butter and melt. Once melted, add water and turn off saute function.

  • Whisk in Spicy Taco Soup Keto Chow until no longer lumpy.
  • Add steak, onions, peppers and garlic back to InstantPot. Season with more salt and pepper. Cook on low pressure for 10 min. Serve and top with any toppings you like.

Notes

TIPS: For a more liquid soup, do a second serving of Keto Chow Taco Soup mixed with water and butter. This recipe is very mild in the spiciness factor. If you want more spice, add a hotter pepper in the mix, chili powder, or some cumin. You can replace the water with beef broth.

Keto Chow Chowder (Maine Style Clam Chowder)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cauliflower
  • 1/3 lb of sliced bacon
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 capsules Keto Chow fish oil
  • 2 tsp onion powder or granulated onion
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 5 oz canned whole clams with the liquid
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 serving Savory Chicken Soup Keto Chow (or 1 scoop)
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions

  • In water, boil cauliflower broken into about 1” squares until fork soft, but not so soft that they will pulverize. The idea is to be as soft as the potatoes are normally in chowder. Keep cauliflower warm for later.
  • Melt 2 tbsp of butter in a soup pot.
  • Squeeze the contents of two Keto Chow fish oil capsules into the pot and discard the shells.
  • Cut bacon into small pieces, about 1/2” square. Add the sliced bacon to the pot and cook under high heat stirring often. Cook bacon until it is partway finished. The bacon should not be crispy. It should still be soft.
  • Sprinkle with salt and pepper and 2 tsp of granulated or powdered onion. Stir until mixed.
  • Open can of whole clams - DO NOT dispose of the liquid. Drain the liquid from the clams into the bacon, fat, and butter and bring to a boil. Stir to deglaze the pan.
  • Add heavy whipping cream and 1/2 cup of cold water.
  • Mix 1 packet or scoop of Keto Chow Chicken Soup in a different container with warm water until fully mixed by whatever method you prefer.
  • Add the Keto Chow mixture to the pot and warm under medium heat until it almost boils.
  • Add the cauliflower to the chowder and discard the water used for the cauliflower. Add the clams. Bring almost to a boil and remove from heat. Gently stir trying not to break the clams and cauliflower. Salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

This recipe makes a thin milky Maine style chowder. If you prefer a thicker chowder you can add a thickener like xanthan gum powder to the chowder just before the clams and cauliflower are added. Serve immediately or chill and reheat the next day - the flavors blend better overnight. Other variations are to add shrimp, white fish filets, scallops, or lobster in addition to the clams for a mixed seafood chowder.

Completely random Friday: added a bunch of stuff to Giphy

So this is completely unimportant but consumed enough time yesterday and today it needs mentioning: There’s a bunch of Keto Chow stuff up on Giphy now. Mostly clips from our advertisement #witchplease – but there are some animated Keto Chow logos too. Why did I do this? Mainly I added the logos so that I can add them to Instagram stories. Right now there’s only one that’s showing up as a sticker but most of the rest will arrive in a week or so. Amazing Taste- Lost 7lbs!!
I am usually pretty skeptical with new fads. KETO was no exception. I tried it for awhile with my husband and we did pretty well! My problem was, I eat on the go a lot and I was struggling with planning ahead and preparing/cooking/packing KETO friendly meals every day. So I came across a review on another blog about Keto Chow & how it helped make meals on the go easier. I had already been doing several other standard protein shakes from other companies frequently and they tasted just alright (I got used to them) & they filled me up & were easier all around for my busy lifestyle. Problem is, my weight loss stalled for quite some time- no matter if I wasn’t eating non keto things. Well, I saw the review on this product and thought I’d just give it a try. Why not? I tried some with HWC and some with butter. Both ways I prepared them, each and every flavor of samples I tried tasted amazing!! I made 3 up a day ahead and let them sit in the fridge overnight as the website recommends. I was completely stunned that lost 7lbs in the week I tried all the samples. I don’t just give fluff reviews either! I state it like it is because I also appreciate open and honest reviews as well. Since I tried the samples & jump started my weight loss again after such a long stall, I ordered two large tubs of different flavors to give it a try for the next couple of weeks. It is a bit pricey, but probably about the same price or cheaper if I were eating a meal instead of drinking a shake. I have already recommended these shakes to several people I know & am looking forward to see how all of the other flavors I didn’t get to try yet- taste! I also especially appreciate the transparency of the creator and see the data of his progress. I only wish I could buy this in the store so I didn’t have to wait for the packages to arrive LOL (although shipping was pretty quick!).

Keto Chow is My New Best Friend!
Convenient: As a busy mom, I find it difficult to get the nutrition I need daily. Keto Chow has made that SO much easier! I can either prepare a shake the night before and have it ready to go in the fridge or I can mix it and have it ready within 30 minutes. I love that this is one less thing I have to think about as a mom. Additionally, it’s so much easier to grab my shaker bottle and walk out the door than to cook a full meal.

Flavor: Not only is here a wide flavor selection, the taste is AMAZING! Most shakes have a weird aftertaste or chalky texture- none of that happens with Keto Chow. It’s thick, smooth and creamy.

Customizable: I liked that I had the option to play with proportions until I found the perfect one for me. There were days where I added less or more heavy cream and/or water depending on my personal preference. I enjoy that flexibility.

Overall I would definitely purchase this product and stand behind it 100%! It helps me manage my sugar levels but gives me so many flavor options, I can’t get bored. I’m looking forward to trying ALL of the flavors Keto Chow has to offer!

Vanlife no longer struggling on keto
I’m a vandweller and not having a fridge or cabinets for tons of ingredients was leading me to fast food keto options which wasn’t really working. I was grumpy, hungry, and malnourished. Keto chow has changed the game. I ordered two more variety packs after the first week. There’s not been a flavor I didn’t like, so far. My hunger is zapped. I’m no longer grumpy and I have great energy. I’m 47 and was 247 pounds at the beginning of my keto chow journey. this morning I weighed and I’m now 233 after two weeks. Granted I’m way more active because my energy is elevated. I do have to say the taco base soup gave me the verps…but I drank it very fast because it was so delicious. Next time I’ll try only having half a serving.

Making Keto Chow into Ice Cream

Miriam bought me an ice cream maker for (mybirthday|fathersday) and it works really well to make Keto Chow into Ice cream. I decided to make a video showing just how easy it is! In this video, I’m using the Whynter ICM-200LS that has a built-in compressor so you don’t have to pre-freeze a bowl or anything.
