Yesterday I got back my new blood tests. For comparison I have the same figures from:
- March 2014 after 2 months of People Chow when I weighed 247
- January 2015 after 3 months of Keto when I weighed 226 (the full test results for that can be see here)
- May 2015 after 6 months of Keto when I weighed 208. They only tested a few things this time (it was a “healthy at work” thing, hey it was free) so I’ve only included the ones that are in all 3 tests.
3/20/2014 | 1/6/2015 | 5/4/2015 | |
Cholesterol | 142 | 135 | 161 |
Triglycerides | 160 | 96 | 75 |
HDL, Cholesterol | 43 | 45 | 49 |
LDL (calculated) | 67 | 71 | 97 |
My triglycerides are WAY down compared to when I was eating carbs, more than anything else this is a very good sign. HDL is up but so is my LDL. This lab doesn’t do a thorough analysis of the LDL particle sizes so it’s difficult to say that number is bad or not.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
Interesting, what’s your ACL like?
Unfortunately they didn’t test that and my earlier tests don’t have it either; https://old.ketochow.xyz/2015/01/blood-test-for-a-year-on-diy-soylent-1-4-of-that-doing-keto/
Not sure if you saw this, but cholesterol levels might be meaningless. http://openheart.bmj.com/content/2/1/e000196.full
The money paragraphs:
From the literature available, it is clear that at the time dietary advice was introduced, 2467 men had been observed in RCTs. No women had been studied; no primary prevention study had been undertaken; no RCT had tested the dietary fat recommendations; no RCT concluded that dietary guidelines should be introduced. It seems incomprehensible that dietary advice was introduced for 220 million Americans28 and 56 million UK citizens,29 given the contrary results from a small number of unhealthy men.
An exchange between Dr Robert Olson of St Louis University and Senator George McGovern, chair of the Dietary Committee, was recorded in July 1977.30 Olson said “I pleaded in my report and will plead again orally here for more research on the problem before we make announcements to the American public.” McGovern replied “Senators don’t have the luxury that the research scientist does of waiting until every last shred of evidence is in”.
